Megan and I just returned from a 5 day stay in Tulum, Mexico. Kind of a last bit of hibernation mode until we start seeds and do it all over again! Here are some of the highlights. The lodging was compliment of Hilton and included all of our meals and drinks. We typically started the day with a walk around 8:30 for about an hour, then on to full breakfast buffet, literally everything you could imagine. The highlights for me were egg whites with salsa, sauteed veggies, bacon, capers, smoked salmon, fresh fruit and sourdough bread. Y'all know I am a big boy, that kind of machine requires some serious fuel! Next came some lounging around the pool, which was right by the beach super convenient like. Between the pool and ocean sessions, we would typically read, play gin or backgammon, or snack at the pool bar which also had very good food. I have been stewing on this one for at least a year now, so here we go! My first introduction into the word Idolatry was as a child and we studied the Israelite people in the Bible. As Moses was leading the people from slavery to a new life in the promised land, the people were worshiping the old gods in the form of physical idols. It got bad enough that 20% of the Ten Commandments essentially told the people that was wrong. The Idolatry that I am referring to in this modern world has more to do with material possessions and extreme wealth accumulation. It has more to do with staring at screens and the manufacturing of "famous" and "rich" people that many are programmed to imitate. It has more to do with the ministry of information that is mentioned in Orwell's classic book 1984.
